Overall an enjoyable trip with a very helpful and friendly guide Julius. Tour itself was well structured, meals were quite decent and it was a nice end to the trip to have some relaxation in Zanzibar. Alot of early starts which was to be expected, and some work relating to putting up/down tents & cleaning duties which is explained in the tour outline but I found that it actually helped foster group camaraderie. Would definitely do another tour like this again.

My daughters and I had a fantastic time at Kruger national park. Our camping experienced was a 5 star experience, our guide Isreal was such a gentleman and has great knowledge about the animals. We saw so much wild life, elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, rhinos.... so many. Our night at the lodge was fantastic too. We will love to go back again soon. Highly recommend the camping even for the elderly, the tent has proper beds and they were very comfortable. We stay at the Hyatt Regency in Johannesburg, was truly a 5star hotel. All up a fantastic holiday. Thank you. Juliana, Brigid n Kimberley

I had an amazing time with Geckos. The tour leader Peter, was informative and fun. The driver and chef was accommodating and hilarious! The Geckos team really made us feel like family. It really was the trip of a lifetime. The gorillas, white water rafting, game drives, shopping and sleeping to the sound of lions are all just a few of the highlights.

The whole trip was an unbelievable experience. We could have not had a better time. Our guide, Justin, cook, Irvine and driver, collen were the best team we have ever come across. The were compassionate and funny. We have never had so much fun in our life and laughed so much. It is the best trip we have ever done. We are now looking at doing another trip in this wonderful, friendly and amazing country.

I chose to travel with Geckos for the following reasons. I see myself as a 'traveller" not a "tourist". Moving with Geckos you can get to mingle with the locals and experience something of their way of life - and to me the people and their cultures are such an important part of any trip. For me, to mix and to learn something of their way of life is a very valuable and rewarding experience, and of course when you couple this with all the other great things that this style of travel has to offer, I think you really have the best.

The highlight of our trip was most definitely the mountain gorillas in Rwanda, but we also enjoyed all the animals we saw in the Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru and our boat trip on the Kazinga Channel. We felt very safe on some fairly rough roads with our driver, and the food on the tour was absolutely fantastic.

I think it would be good to have an estimate of how much cash is needed for tips beforehand, as taking out cash every few days really racked up U.S.A. bank fees and caused a lot of confusion during the trip. Yes, it is mentioned in the pre-departure packet, however it was not very clear. Possibly making a list of tips that are optional, in bullet format would help. Keeping it in USD amounts. Or perhaps, including the optional tips in the actual itinerary so that we know what to expect days ahead, and take out of truck safe accordingly. It is better to have all cash beforehand and simply exchanged a huge chunk of it all at once to Pulas. This was the least enjoyable part of the trip; trying to figure out how much to take out of Botswana banks to tip in Pulas and we were all unsure of what was acceptable to take out. The equipment and transportation were all acceptable and comfortable. Thank you for an amazing trip, I know that I most certainly grew from it!

This trip was the most amazing trip I've have ever been on, Arica was filled with nature's beauty and wonders of the word. From the very begging it was an adventure from becoming expertise at tent set-up, and i've never been camping be for this. Too meeting new friendly peoples. I can't find words to describe the beauty of Africa, this was a trip I most do again, two thumbs up for the great leaders of this trip.

This trip exceeded our expectations. It was very well organized - and each transition to a new activity went smoothly. Simba, our leader, couldn't do enough for us. Irvan, our cook was incredibly gifted and his meals outstanding. Shadrack, our driver, was more than just a driver in his helping the trip run smoothly. All were very friendly. They made it possible to see many animals and identify many birds. It was fun for all of us.

The tour leaders make or break a tour and Garland + Justin made this tour work very well. They managed people very well, gave us clear information about our requirements and were informative about the region and the wildlife. Garland's cooking is to be commended. Our only criticism is the quality of the tents. They leaked in the heavy rain that we experienced. Thankyou to Gecko for upgrading us when the tents became unserviceable. Commendations to Garland for handling a difficult situation well when the truck became bogged in Kruger. The best day was with the guide Ian in Motopo NP. His insights into Bushmen, the local native culture and rhino tracking were excellent. As a driver Shadrack was very competent.

Overall we loved our trip. Unfortunately due to overbooking in Krugar, we had to spend our second night out of the park. This meant that our 'full day safari' through Krugar was actually just a transfer. Our driver was more interested in getting us to the destination rather than showing us the animals. So I was very disappointed with our KRugar experience.
