Our favourite things about Tanzania
- Sing song
“The School of St Jude we love you so much (clap-clap), The School of St Jude we love you so much (clap-clap).” You’ll have this school song stuck in your head for weeks. The kids here get a free education, which includes transport, uniform, stationery, snacks, water and a hot meal.
There’s no fences around our Serengeti campsite, so you might wake up in the morning to find lion footprints alongside your tent. Bet that’s never happened on a weekend camping trip with dad.
The Ngorongoro Crater is about 20km wide, so it’s slightly more than just a hole in the ground. It’s your best chance of seeing the endangered black rhino so keep your peepers peeled.
Hit the streets
Catch a dala dala (local mini bus) to the centre of town and head to the craft market for beaded jewellery and paintings. Then hit up Khan’s barbecue for a feed.
