  • Why we love Uganda

Uganda’s the kind of place that will bring a tear to your eye. Partly because of the hard work trekking to see gorillas, but mostly because of the gorillas themselves.

It’s pretty much impossible to prepare yourself for the utter amazingness of sitting in a jungle clearing watching a big gorilla ignore an annoying younger gorilla.

Another thing that might make you a bit teary is the landscape. Uganda is, in two words, really nice. There are the misty mountains of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Lake Victoria and its chimp-covered island and Kampala, which after years of abuse is headed back to being ‘The Pearl of Africa’. Uganda: amazing stuff guaranteed, tissues optional.

    Camping with kids

There's two sorts of camping: the dreamy, childhood version where a canopy of stars shines over a warm, open fire while darling babies sleep soundly in their tents. And then there's the reality.

Travel can not only change you but it can also change the world. We know it sounds a bit corny, but here at Peregrine we believe individuals can make a difference, whether you have a lot or a little to give.

A musical journey around the world

Think Buenos Aires and the strains of the tango accompany the images; memories of Cuba come with a breathless dash of rumba music and separating the sounds of West Africa from its people is nigh on impossible.

Music is the lifeblood of many countries, and catching a local performance is...
