The Kokoda Track was one of many walking trails that existed long before Europeans came to this part of the world, but it became an important battleground between Japanese and Australian troops during World War II, with the local people playing a significant role. A walk on the Kokoda is not only a challenging and fascinating trek through forested mountain terrain, but abound with war relics it is also a walk with history.
