Cayo Levisa is a beautiful Caribbean beach on the north coast of Cuba – long white sandy beaches, palm trees, great snorkelling, good seafood – you get the idea. Mix in to this some traditional Cuban hospitality and you’ve got a great mix for new years eve; some rum, some salsa and a couple of big fat cigars – bring in the new year Cuban style!
What better way to start 2011 than standing on the summit of Africa’s highest mountain? This eight-day trip finishes on 1 January 2011, so New Years Eve will be spent celebrating the ascent of the majestic summit, surely the most unique place in the world to bring in the new year?
Being totally biased, Kathmandu is my favourite city in the world, and hence there is no place better to spend New Years Eve! Emerge yourself in the hustle and bustle of Thamel – Kathmandu’s tourist centre, or further afield in Durbar Square, the historical centre. With the friendliest people in the world, some great restaurants and a few thumping clubs, it will be the best place in the world to see in 2011 – but then again, having been there nine times, I’m very biased!
