3 steps to choosing the right destination

The end of year festive season is creeping up on us once again and what a busy year it has been! So why not reward your hard work with a trip away somewhere, and get away from your everyday normal lives?
But the million dollar question is…where should you go?

Here is the process I recently went through when choosing a destination for my end of year trip. You might find it helpful to ask yourself the same questions and see what you end up with:

Do I want to stay in Australia or travel overseas?

There are so many wonderful places to visit in Australia, and the famous Whitsundays have always been appealing with its white sand beaches and fantastic snorkeling spots. However, I also want the experience of a totally new culture. I’ve always felt this is the most exciting part of a holiday, so maybe overseas is the way to go this year.

What do I want to do?
After an entire year of studying hard and working in between, I’ve decided that this year I’d like to take a relaxing trip rather than a jam-packed holiday. I’m almost certain that this time all I want to do is laze by the pool while indulging in cocktails and soaking up the sun. And after days of relaxation, I'd like to explore night markets and treat myself to fancy dinners by the ocean.

What’s the weather going to be like at that time of year?
Given that I want to laze by the pool soaking up the sun all day, I'll need to head somewhere warm and tropical! So the next thing I need to check out is where is nice to go at this time of year.
I have a look at South East Asia and discover that Thailand is perfect!

Thailand is renowned for luxurious resorts, lovely restaurants and night markets, which is exactly what I'm looking for. Too easy! Now to organise our passports and off we go!
