Brendan van Son writes: Sometimes you don't even need to have travelled somewhere for it to hold a special place in your heart. West Africa is that place to me. In the New Year, I will finally have the chance to visit this place that I have longed for. Finally making my move from South America to Africa, I will begin my trip in Morocco and work my way down along the western side of Africa.
These are the things I'm most looking forward to seeing and experiencing:

Travel blogger Brendan van Son has just returned from a Gecko's trip to the Galapagos Islands:
Like anywhere I go, I had expectations before visiting the Galapagos Islands. I had a wishlist of all the things I wanted to see and experience. But like anywhere, the Galapagos had its own plans for me; and I'm certainly glad it did.

It's been a while, so we thought we'd end the week with a bit of a wrap-up. Take a look at what's been going on around the traps, and see if you get a mention!
Don't forget to keep submitting your fave photos to Facebook, we love hearing all about your adventures. Facebook is also a great place to ask questions and see who else will be going on your trip, especially with our new Meet Others app.

I'm a very fortunate person and have drifted around the world for a good portion of my life. Trying my best not to sound like a travel snob, I have to say that I spend the majority of my time in interesting and beautiful places that can only stir up one's sense of adventure.

Brendan van Son is about to head off on his next adventure, this time to the Galapagos Islands:
I can almost confidently say that I have been nearly everywhere in South America. I have touched every single country on the main land of the Americas including obscure destinations like Suriname and French Guiana.

Our guest blogger Traveling Ted asks: Have you ever dreamed of being a nature photographer, but the thought of sitting in a humid, bug-infested jungle for months waiting for a bird to show up and dance does not appeal? Or maybe sleeping in grizzly country waiting for a wolverine is not your cup of tea?

Few countries beckon a long-term stay that will allow you to explore the diversity of its exotic landscapes. Stretching close to 3,700 kilometres (more than half the length of South America!), Argentina is that country!
