  • Wanna go or already been: East Africa Mission Orphanage

On Facebook, we asked for your comments on visiting the East Africa Mission Orphanage (EAMO) in Kenya. It's one of the highlights of any Gecko's trip to this part of the world, and gives you a chance to see the incredible work being done by owners Ralph and May Spinks.

There's over 200 kids at EAMO, and on our visits you'll get the chance to take a tour of the place and spend time with them. Just don't be too upset when they beat you at soccer!

  • Wanna go or already been: Kenya

As dawn breaks over Kenya's Masai Mara, the only sound is the frequent whoosh of gas lighting up dozens of hot air balloons that dot the sky.

Take a look through all our trips to Kenya to find the one that best suits you.

  • Preparing for an overland trip

Sitting at home, packing for an overland tour means packing for the unexpected and unknown, which means one thing – less is best. I am what you would call a minimalistic packer. I tend to take just the basics when I travel because when you are overlanding, there are no butlers to wait on you, no porters to carry your luggage, no one to rely on but yourself, and your trusty backpack that you need to carry. Yes, and when it comes to carrying, less is definitely best.
