"Wake up, there’s a whale shark!” someone yelled and it was all I could do to pull my pants and trousers on before my cabin door was open and I was rushing out onto the deck to see it.

As dawn breaks over Kenya's Masai Mara, the only sound is the frequent whoosh of gas lighting up dozens of hot air balloons that dot the sky.
