Rio de Janeiro’s annual Carnival is one of the most colourful and fun events you will ever go to!
Carnival is essentially a competition for samba schools. Each samba school chooses a theme which they then choreograph and design their performance, costumes, props and floats around. Music is obviously a huge part of the performance and certainly gets the spectators sambaing away in the stands!
Carnival runs for four days and aside from the amazing competition parade held in the Sambadrome, there are heaps of great street parties and other festivities around the city.
Gecko’s has an awesome 4-night package which includes accommodation in Copacabana and a ticket to the Carnival parade. You can add the package to your Gecko’s South American tour or buy the package on its own.
Our Carnvial package check in date is 17 February 2012, check out is 21 February 2012.
