Mongolia
The land without fences beneath the big blue sky; vast, remote, sparsely populated Mongolia is truly a place of grand, elemental landscapes. Rolling grasslands from the Gobi Desert to The Altai Mountains range from lush verdant meadows bisected by pristine rivers to high steppes dotted with lakes and gers: Mongolia’s nomadic herdsman still live as they have for millennia. Ulaanbaatar has a sprawl of tented suburbs too, around a cosmopolitan centre of museums, galleries and shops, but it’s the endless, timeless terrain surrounding it that holds Mongolia’s true heart. The unique culture of one of the world’s most hospitable people makes this country of tradition and unspoilt wilderness a humbling pleasure whether camel trekking, paddling, hiking or simply basking in natural wonder. Mongolia is an adventure traveller’s must-see.

Mongolian Yak Safari
Raymond - Ridge South, QLD, 30 Aug, 2009
Fantastic experience - and the trekking was not nearly as arduous as we were led to believe however be prepared to climb quite steep ridges. We thought that we would follow the carts along the "road" and that the yaks would not climb steep hills - we could have gone with the carts but it was more interesting to go with the majority of the group up into the hills.
