H'var Good Time

Aside from being a clever pun, the name of this trip isn't just a suggestion. It's a dead cert. That is of course unless you're not a fan of sailing, the ocean breeze, immaculate beaches, rugged Dalmatian landscapes and architecture and all the other stuff that goes along with it. Then we can't help you.

H'var Good Time

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Trogir

Trogir has a medieval history, which you'll catch a glimpse of in the walls and architecture. The wow-factor of seeing this massive old town perched on the edge of a ridiculously good-looking stretch of ocean won't be lost on you. It wasn't lost on us, which is why we made this trip.

The adventure begins with a group meeting at 4pm on Day 1 in Trogi
Walk in the steps of renaissance lords and monks as you wind past grand buildings, such as the Cathedral of St Lovro, the 15th-century town hall, the Cipiko Palace and the Kamerlengo Fortress

Day 2: Split/Hvar

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Roman emperor Diocletian chose Split for his palace of pleasures. We're not entirely sure what these pleasures consisted of, but they sound awesome. And so is Split. FYI there's no such thing as the wrong time to eat a burek here. Feel free to get one on the hour every hour. Grab a plate of calamari and a thin crust pizza in the Hvar piazza and toast your awesome life.

Cast off and say goodbye to Rogoznica as you sail eastwards through the sheltered Kastela Gulf, passing the town of Kastela with its grand fortified castles to the north, and Ciovo Island to the south

Approach the palm-lined harbour of Split from its best side - framed by towering coastal mountains and the blue of the Adriatic

Explore the impressive ruins of Diocletian's Palace in Split

Sail from city to island and head for Hvar island in the afternoon (approx 5hrs sailing time)

Settle in for an afternoon of beach-hopping, enjoying seafood and kicking back with cocktails on the waterfront

Wander around towns with preserved Renaissance facades, hike past jagged limestone cliffs and slow your pace to enjoy the farms, ancient olive groves and fields of rosemary and lavender

Perhaps cross the Island by Car and visit Hvar Town - the so called San Trope of Croatia

Day 3: Brac

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Welcome to one of the biggest islands of central Dalmatia. If you're the type that likes beaches, cheese and homemade wine, you're in for a treat.

Cruise along the coast of Brac

Weigh anchor and go for a paddle in the sea, or snorkel and spot sea anemones, crabs, sea urchins and small fish in the pristine waters

Weather permitting, anchor for the Night in Bol or a nearby Cove

Day 4: Blace

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Pebble beaches, black pine groves, rocky cliffs, mountains, a river and more. Pure Blace.

Navigate the narrow sea channel and sail out again to the Adriatic for a blissful full day of sailing (approx. 5hrs)

Moor in the mainland for the night

Dock right next to a family run restaurant where you'll dine tonight

Perhaps go for a stunning hike up to an outlook with a 180 degree view

Day 5: Korcula

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Ah Korcula, you handsome devil. Many times we have visited only to part ways again. Many times you have broken our hearts with your rugged good looks, your happy-go-lucky attitude, and your abundance (they were introduced in the Middle Ages to stop rats spreading disease).

Sweep in past the round, defensive towers of Korcula Town via the Peljeski Channel

Once arrived in Korcula, explore the old town and unwind on the beaches

Day 6: Mljet

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Whilst Odysseus had seven years In Mljet, you have one day. Better have a list of things-to-do before you pull up, champ.

Sail south-east across the jewel sea and be seduced by Mljet (approx 6 hrs)

Pergaos explore karst valleys and catch your reflection in the lake lakes if you choose to take a guided tour through the national park

Wander beneath cool pine forests, through chasms and gorges, and discover ruins such as the remains of an Illyrian fortification, a Roman palace and a 5th-century church

Day 7-8: Ston/Slano/Dubrovnik

Meals included: 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch

It's got big walls, it's got amazing coastline, it's surrounded by azure-blue waters, what's not to like about Dubrovnik? That's right, nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Depart Mljet and head to Ston, a town tucked up on the isthmus that joins the mainland and the Peljesac Peninsula (3hrs)

Wander the narrow streets, built to confuse invaders, and explore the medieval town centre

Depending on the weather conditions you may spend the Night in Ston or continue for another hour to Slano and dock for the night

Your journey on the waves ends at approximately 10am, after a last breakfast aboard the yacht the following morning

We'll arrange a taxi from your mooring point in Slano to Dubrovnik town (at additional cost). NB. The Itinerary above may be subject to change depending on weather or berth availability. Your Skipper will make the final call to ensure your safety at all times.

Important Information

Joining/Finishing Information: We meet in the café-bistro at Trogir Marina for a short briefing before taking a taxi to the point where our boat is moored. If you are late or delayed for this meeting you will need to catch up with the group in the following destination at your own expense. Our tour ends in the small port town of Slano which is situated about 33kms northwest of Dubrovnik. Our taxi/minibus will drop you off in Dubrovnik Old Town (at additional cost). If you are planning to depart on the final day of the trip, please do not book a flight earlier than 3pm in case our arrival is delayed due to weather conditions Dubrovnik International Airport is located approximately 20 kms from the city centre. Atlas provides bus transfers to the airport from the main city bus station of Piles, which is located in the port area of Gruz. The service usually departs 2hrs-90 minutes before scheduled flights and takes approximately 30 minutes. The fare is EUR5. Taxis are also readily available costing approximately EUR40 for 1-4 passengers. Consider booking an extra nights' accommodation directly with a hotel website or your travel agent before this trip if you wish to experience more of the region.

This trip is accommodated on board a catamaran boat. Our boats are equipped with twin-share cabins, and shared bathrooms (1-4) The average size of the boat is 53 feet. Fresh water is available for showers, and toilets are either electronic or the hand pump variety. The boat is equipped with a motor for times when the wind is not sufficient for sailing. Our boats are real yachts and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible. The skipper will allocate the rooms on arrival to the boat and single travellers will be paired up with another passenger of the same sex, this may mean sharing a double mattress. The skipper will also be sharing the yacht's facilities and sleeping quarters. While some may find the living quarters quite close, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort is more than made up for by the spirit of this sailing experience.
