Some superb fishing can be had in Belize, but most visitors opt to get one step closer to the action – a dive or snorkel is a magnificent plunge into a carnival of fish and sensual gardens of soft coral, all in wonderfully warm seas. Belize boasts more than its fair share of the world’s second largest coral reef, and a lifetime of diving couldn’t exhaust its varied and vivid waters. One of the highlights has to be the fabled Blue Hole, perhaps the world’s most iconic dive site, where the brave can spend time swimming with tiger and hammerhead sharks – definite bragging rights for back home.
