Chibuku Shake Shake
Kindly described by some as being like a Belgian beer, and by others as a little like a slurry mix of vinegar and porridge, Chibuku Shake Shake is the commercialised version of village home-brew, and needs to be tasted to be believed. Made from fermenting yeast in a maize mixture, the end result is a yoghurt-beer the carries a pleasantly mild buzz, and comes in the coolest milk-style cardboard packaging (warning: may leak). And the 'shake shake'? Left undisturbed it has a tendency to settle into liquid and solid fractions – so buy a carton, shake it up, and drink down the world’s only alcoholic meal in a carton. Just don’t ask us how to un-coat your tongue afterwards – modern science has yet to unlock such mysteries.
