Climb Volcan Baru
It's not often you get to gaze out on two oceans at once. But from atop Baru Volcano the Pacific and the Atlantic can both be seen pounding the country's shores - the crowning glory of a wonderful walk up Panama's highest peak. Agricultural pastures and tropical rainforest populate the lower slopes, while further up clear traces of the volcano's last explosion can be seen, alpine wildflowers lining your approach to the 3,500-metre high summit. And if you weren't a bird-lover when you arrived, you will be upon leaving the area, with trails through dense undergrowth accompanied by birdsong, and possible sightings of such extravagant creatures as quetzals and toucans.
