Erindi Game Reserve
Away from the boundless plains and the bone-dry deserts of sweeping sands that make up much of the country, Erindi is one of Namibia’s wonderful exceptions, and a seldom explored one. Erindi means ‘Place of Water’, and this is a lush land, teeming with life and colour. Animals abound here – a couple of days spent in Erindi, and you can be confident of seeing some great wildlife. Giraffe and elephants are two of the big draws, while numerous species of cats (leopard and lion included), hippos and baboons also draw in intrepid travellers. Look out too for the distinctive paint-splash patterns of African wild dogs – one of the best places in Africa to spot them. And Erindi also delivers on another quintessential safari experience: those early evening golden hours, when the landscape becomes aglow with beautiful golden, reddening colours.
