Frigatebird spotting

Frigatebird spotting

During the breeding season, the male’s red throat pouch puffs up spectacularly, but equally arresting is watching the frigatebirds attempt to gain their food. Scavengers, they depend on robbing seabirds of their catch, sometimes swooping into nests, and often exacting mid-air acts of piracy on boobies and tropicbirds. Agile, roguish and spectacular, frigatebirds are one of the stars of the Great Galapagos Wildlife Show.
