Hike in Dana Nature Reserve

Dana Biosphere Reserve is Jordan’s most diverse natural area, and one of the country’s finest opportunities to get outdoors and hiking. From 1500 metres up, the reserve tumbles down to below sea level, the chain of valleys and mountains supplying endlessly varying and magnificent views. Tropical palms to desert cacti, wooded highlands to sand dunes – Dana’s got the lot, the variety packed into such a small area, dizzying. Wildlife, too, is a highlight. Birds include eagles, falcons and kestrels, while ibex, gazelles, wolves, hyenas and jackals roam the land. Looking for any of these while hiking from green pastures to desolate sandstone wilds is a must for any trip to Jordan.
