At the shore of Lake Baikal you’ll risk vertigo; the water is so clear you can see 40 meters deep. The lake holds 20 percent of the world’s fresh water, is 1600 metres deep, contains 1700 plant and animal species, two-thirds of which are indigenous - including the world’s only fresh water seals - and has special plants that purify the water, makign it some of the purest in the world. Explore the lake, its flora and fauna, and the small picturesque villages on its shores. You’ll sleep and eat smoked fish omul, potatoes and fresh picked mushrooms from the forest, and swim, hike, relax and be immersed in the best of rural Russia and natural, high steppe adventure.
