Luxor's open air museum

Luxor's open air museum

Luxoris a fantasy land of temples and exotic sights; of ancient kings and their riches. Any visit here should, of course, take in the out-of-town highlights: the Valley of the Kings, and the spectacular Karnak Temple, where Egyptian Gods were said to live on earth. A quick look at the immense scale of the place, and you may well believe it. Back in town, one of the joys of Luxor are the striking changes between modern and ancient: stroll along the town’s modern streets to the splendid Luxor Temple. Dive into the souq for some shopping of the local specalities – clay pots and alabaster vases – then recuperate in one of the smart cafes and coffee shops.
