Takhi wild horses on the steppe

The Khustain National Park is the preserve of the rehabilitated Takhi wild horse, or Przewalski horse, that has cantered across the grasslands of Central Asia, and far beyond, for millennia. See these iconic animals, the same as those drawn in European caves, and experience the steppe like it was in the days of Genghis: populated with prowling wolves and lynx, and herds of deer, gazelle and horses. Takhi are not related to feral populations of wild horse, but are an older chromosomally distinct species, and were ridden by nomadic herders and the Khan’s conquerors until the twentieth century. A dawn or dusk wander through the park will have you ogling game and the wide open space of Mongolian prairie.
