U-bien Bridge of Mandalay
Get a high gigabyte drive for your camera before arriving in Mandalay, for it is perhaps the best photographic destination in all of South East Asia. Burma and the Burmese will delight professional and amateur photographers alike, especially when photographing the distinct Buddhist presence in the former royal capital. Though a busy trading town, Mandalay is also the site of intricate wooden pagodas, ancient gilt stupas and enchanting working monasteries. To get a spectacular album started, head up Mandalay Hill or down to the wooden U-Bein Bridge at sunset and watch the processions of robed monks cross it - an ethereal scene that makes a great shot, though remember it’s still one best experienced from out behind the lens.
