I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. The value for money was excellent, I doubt that we would've been able to pay for the accommodation, transport and activities for less than the cost of the trip, even if we were to organise the trip ourselves. I felt safe at all times.

The "Ain't no mountain high enough " tour was an amazing experience. Starting in Nepal settled us in to a different culture and we emersed ourselves into what the beautiful country had to offer including Buddhas birthplace and momo's! We then headed into the land of Papadums and butter chicken and fell in love with the bright and always suprising India . Our great tour guides always went that extra step to make our trip a memorable experience that I will take away with fond memories.

The trip was all that I expected and more. The professionalism of the two guides - Pradeep and Binod - was amazing. They were so organised, informed and helpful, and went over and above their duties to ensure that we were looked after at all times - this even extended to getting medications when anyone fell ill. There were 2 members of our tour who elected from the onset to be 'Independent" of the group, making things very difficult for both tour leaders, as well as the rest of the group. The way that Pradeep and Binod handled this was a real credit to them both. They ensured that the rest of the group were in no way compromised by the actions of these 2 ladies. I would really like to thank both of them for making this trip so fantastic. A lifetime experience that I will dwell on for many a year. I would not hesitate to use Gecko Tours again if all their guides are as good as the two we had!

Travelling with Geckos we really experienced the culture or the countries we visited. Our tour leaders were local and enthusiastically kept us informed of history, safety precautions and took us to places where we could best experience the country and its people. Don't expect luxury as the price doesn't include this but using varying modes of transport and staying in a variety of accommodation all added to the experience.

Trip was perfect length of time and went to a variety of places to cater for all. A balance was struck between amount of time in each place and the number of places visited. At each place, there were plenty of optional activities on offer, which the gecko guide helped arrange. You could have lots of down time or be kept busy the entire trip - the option was yours to chose. I travelled as part of a family, three adults in 50s and two in 20s. It was our first visit to Nepal/ India. Was perfect tour for us! The rest of our groups were very embracing and easy going fun.

Both guides, Bimal Kumar Dhungel (Nepal) and Pravar (India) were fantastic. The two were both so very passionate and we all felt extrememly safe. I would suggest not to use Hotel Perfect in Delhi as we had issues with the bathroom even by India standards. There was also a lot squeezed into the India part with not much time to relax and enjoy the sites. Chitwan in Nepal was beautiful as was Tordi Garh in India!!!!

The trip was very satisfying. I enjoyed our time in Kathmandu, the locals are friendly and the shopping is good. My travel companion and I found the trek challenging but rewarding. The team, guide and porters were wonderful. They really looked after us. We probably went a little late in the season and while this was good as far as the crowds go, we walked most of the week in the clouds so did not get that fantastic view of the mountains we were expecting to see. An excuse to return and do it all again.

The trip overall was excellent. We have very positive impressions and it's mainly thanks to our tour leader. He made our deep diving in local culture smooth and exciting. What we didn't like is that "optional' meals during our track. We know that meals are not included in the most of our days but when we were in the village it was clear that optional meal is our only possible option. So you could improve these details and include their price in tour.

Fantastic trip. Really glad we did India first as Nepal was much quieter and I realised how much I needed the slower pace of Nepal once we got there. The trip offered just enough free time on most days to feel like we could be independent. Catching local transport where possible and the orientation tours were an excellent introduction to each city and gave some of us more confidence to go back out in to the craziness and enjoy it on our own. A good balance between busy sightseeing and flexibility to be independent or rest if needed. Both tour guides (we changed in Nepal) were fantastic ambassadors for their countries, very personable and obviously enjoyed their jobs enormously. Other than that, all of the accommodations exceeded our expectations and were generally well located within the cities.

India can be very overwhelming, providing any traveller a real cultural shock. However, the activities planned were excellent and perfectly spaced across the duration of the trip. It was a very good trip and I would recommend it to anyone. A word of advice when looking for a trek there are cheaper options which take less days; treks with built in acclimatisation days (such as this one) are essential. It does not matter how fit you are, the altitude will take its toll and if you do not build in time to get used to it you can get very sick very fast.

Our trip started in Kathmandu on the 3rd of March 2012.... We met our tour guide Binod Maharjan at the introduction along with 5 other travellers... there were 15 of us and we had the most amazing adventure!!!! I have always travelled independantly and have avoided tour groups.... I reluctantly said yes to a tour with the group of friends I was travelling with, mainly due to being time poor! Best decision ever!!! I would now tell anyone wanting to see Nepal or India to join a Gecko tour as not only was the tour designed to encompass everything we wanted to experience, the wealth of knowledge our tour guides had along with their eye to detail and our comfort and safety was AMAZING!!!! I have come home with the most amazing memories and am now back working hard to save to join another Gecko tour next year!!! The most wonderful adventure!

The helping Sherpas were fantastic, and our group leader was very knowledgable and related to the group wonderfully. He really made the experience a hundred times better and I'm so thankful for him! Everything ran smoothly day to day and I had no worries at all - every little thing was taken care of before I even thought of it. Can't wait to travel with geckos again, escoecially back to Nepal!

His home town was in jaipiur and he introduced us to his family & friends. He took a further step to make the trip more personalized. He also brought us to have dinner with a royal family which I thought made the trip that extra special.

The only think i can comment on, was that it was incredibly frustrating dealing with payments, especially with food. I think Geckos should provide a set menu to choose for breakfast/lunch/dinner (which would be included in the tour cost). It was painfully annoying having to not only worry about everything in such a harsh environment and altitude, but also worry about carrying cash, and having to pay for things. Obviously 'extras' would be covered at a persons own expense but it just became too much worrying about how much money i needed, what if i dont have it, can i exchange somewhere ect.

Good trip, you get to see a great variety of places. Chitwan National Park, Kathmandu, and Agra were real highlights. It would be nice if the local payment were included in the trip cost though. Otherwise, it forces you to travel with an extra 300$ (600$ for a couple), let alone your spending money for the trip. This, combined with numerous optional activities, significant tipping in India, and the tips for the tour leaders, makes it difficult to budget your spending money for the trip and requires you to carry a larger sum of money on hand..I also feel that the trip description does not adequately describe the amounts of money required for tips in India..probably another 3-4$ per person/ per day which we did not budget for. On tours with other companies it was largely taken care of for included activities/transportation and optional if you thought it was merited.

Your tourguide Norbu Sherpa is excellent, considerate and patient. You begin to feel that he is one of your best friends and together with Tilak, the second guide I am sure they are invaluable to your organisation.
I regard myself as a reasonable fit 65 year old person. I found the last couple of days after Base Camp keeping pace with the youngsters in my group rather difficult, that is why I commend the patience of the guides.I imagine that you as a organisation do attempt
to match the various age groups when possible. Once again I am proud of having reached Base Camp, something I have always wanted to achieve.
Thanking You, and my regards to Norbu and Tilak.

Very friendly and would recommend this experience to everyone I know. The porter was sensational and very fit. I was unfit, but I was never made to feel uncomfortable about it. Well Done Geckos, a terrific trip

This was a great trip to see a lot of the different aspects of Nepal in a relatively short time, as well as mixing up modes of transport with the trekking, bussing and rafting. It would be very difficult to organise yourself to see so much in the same time frame for anything close to the same price. Awesome value.

This was a really good choice of holiday. We experienced four totally different parts of Nepal; Kathmandu, Trekking in the foothills of the Himalayas, Rafting and Chitwan National Park. The people of Nepal are wonderful and the scenery is amazing. Our guide, Krishh, was a wonderful example of the Nepalese people and was very proud of his Country. Krishh is a great ambassador for his Country and Gecko is very luck to have him as a leader.

The natural beauty and the knowledge of the tour leader were the top points. The low points were accommodation...tha lack of hot showers and proper bedding is unwelcome after a day of hard trekking. Since we were not going to EBC, I thought we could expect slightly better lodges.

There were a lot of hidden costs that we were not informed of at time of booking the trip. eg additional costs for boiled water. Didn't receive much information or history, local knowledge throughout the trek, was expecting our guides to provide more info on the areas we were trekking through eg history etc. I think after this trek I would not do an organised tour again.

Too many days of non-stop travelling - particularly in Nepal and North India.
Some hotels were well below standard - particularly Madurai - dirty sheets, fight for towels, toilet paper, very run down location.
Guide in Nepal ok, South India excellent but for Northern India Tour Leader was inadequate and we felt we missed a lot because of his inability to communicate.
Very muddled tour with travellers coming and going from various trips. No continuity.

I thought the trip was wonderful. I loved the scenery, the people, the whole Nepal experience. I intend to bring my daughter back in a few years. Refer my comments below regarding our leader. I also wish to say that the assistant guides and porters were great, and would like to mention a special thankyou to Raju Tamang who looked after me when I split from the group. He was lovely amd we are now corresponding via email. I also wish to make mention about the Ciwec Medical clinic in Kathmandu. Just before our trip I had a reasonable major medical issue, which they managed to patch me temporarily up for so I could do the trek. Although I was in a fair amount of pain for most of the trek, I had no regrets and thank them profusely. Not sure if you should note on your website that travellers should see them if they have any medical issues while in Nepal

This tour was the perfect combination of activities and for the perfect amount of time. We had a great group and our tour leader Kris was AMAZING! He went above and beyond to make our trip truly special and his passion for his country certainly rubbed off on us all. I will never forget Happy Hira with his big smile each day but also each and every Sherpa and guide we had were incredible. These people honestly made the trip which is why I love Geckos because of the use of all local guides... I rate this trip 10 stars out of 5 :) and would recommend it to anyone!

The trip really exceeded my expectations. The real advantage of the tour were the local tour leaders who showed us the beauty of their countries as no other can. We were exceptionally lucky with the tour leader in India who took such great care of us that we did not feel any of the negative experiences everybody warned us about travelling to India. He also did so much on top like showing us great otional places to visit, recommended good resaurants and great meals, and told us so many stories about India that we truly fell in love with this country.
The only reasons I rated the experience Good (and not Excellent) are 3: a little improvement in transportation, some more time in Jaipur and better organized activities in Delhi.

Both tour guides, Kris in Nepal & Rakesh in India were brilliant.   We encountered a few transport issues & disruptions in Kathmandu, but this was handled well & Kris even organised a driver to take us out to Bahktapur when we had just about given up.   Rakesh took us out to see a Bollywood movie in Varanasi (but I don't want to make it sound like he didn't work hard!)   The point is he was flexible around our needs & more than happy to help.   Both tour guides allowed us plenty of free time as well as providing interpretation & guiding in organised activities - both were inspirational characters & an asset to Gecko's.   We also got to meet some fantastic local people.   Gopal & Hari in Chitwan were especially knowledgable & invaluable as local contacts.   We will be back at some stage & hope to meet up once more with some of the people we met on this wonderful trip.

Our leadership was beyond excellent - led by our guide, Jangbu.  His professionalism, knowledge, organisational skills and overall friendly & approachable manner was a highlight. I've been on an organised group trip before with sub-standard leaders, and it has ruined the whole experience. I was initially very nervous on going on such an adventurous trip, solo, but felt at all times in very safe hands and had an absolutely amazing experience! One small suggestion re. itinerary, I think it would be a nice addition to have a short city tour of Kathmandu on the first day, before flying to Lukla.
