The trip was fantastic giving a great sense of Sri Lanka's past and present. The first week was particularly busy to the point that I'd suggest a little more free time.

This was my first 'big bus' tour. It was so well organized, Sujee was a fantastic and funny guide, and I was happy with all but two of the accommodations, which is why I said good instead of excellent. I loved that we had a bit of free time, especially at the beach, and that once inside the monuments we could venture off on our own or stay with Sujee. I felt we were given plenty of time to enjoy the sites, except when we went to Galle. I could have spent all day there, or at least another hour. Our bus driver and the assistant, Nisa, were fantastic. Ready with umbrellas when needed. It was nice to sit back and relax and let someone else take care of the details. One of my favorite things were the roadside cafes where we ate. They were cheap and delicious, spicy, vegetarian. Loved this and the meal the local family cooked for us especially. And Sujee? Sujee is the man. There is no problem he cannot solve.

Welcome to Sri Lanka

From the rolling tea plantations just outside Kandy to the white-sand, Indian Ocean-flanked beaches Trincomalee – a trip through Sri Lanka will leave the most hardened of travellers all gooey on the inside. This place is a wonderland of awesome.

The people will move you with their kindness, the sights will move you with their magnificence, the food will move you with its deliciousness, and the tuk tuks will move you with their wheels.

The Cultural Triangle – which includes Dambulla, Sigiriya and Anuradhapura – has more jaw-dropping ancient sites than you’re likely to have seen before. Cave temples, palaces, dagobas, sculptures, rock citadels, cities, towns, villages, lakes, rivers, mountains, highlands – you name it, Sri Lanka’s got it. And it all comes with a smile. And some delicious food. Winner.

India

The culture kaleidoscope of India and the turquoise waters and rolling hills of its teardrop island neighbour, Sri Lanka, will enlighten, inspire and challenge first-time travellers and seasoned veterans alike.

Experiencing either country will gobsmack and delight you from chaotic Colombo in the south to serene Dharamsala in the north.

The people, languages, customs, food and landscapes are hugely diverse and fascinating: In India, chaotic cities, colourful saris, rattling trains, holy rivers, welcoming villagers, world-renowned cuisine, hustling, bustling streets and romantic, captivating sights, sounds, scents and tastes weave together in an ever-fresh jumble, while in Sri Lanka, sleepy towns, historic fortresses and temples set snug in rolling hills, alongside wildlife reserves, charming colonial bungalows, beautiful beaches and the mad capital will similarly enthral.
