Syria
‘Lovely and unbelievable, with all the theatrical implausibility of a dream,’ wrote Agatha Christie of Syria’s ancient city of Palmyra, but it could as much describe the whole exotic country. Syria boasts the oldest continually inhabited city in the world, cosmopolitan Damascus; the world’s finest Crusader fortress, Krak des Chevaliers; and arguably the most atmospheric bazaar in the Middle East: Aleppo. Wander delightful spice souks and explore ancient ruins and alien landscapes: Syria is rich in Arabian enchantment.

| Take old comfortable walking shoes - they will get very dirty in places like Wadi Rum and Petra so don't bother with new / good shoes. |
