  • About The Middle East & North Africa

    • If you think Casablanca is the best film ever made and you have an unexplainable interest in mummification, then grab a camel and hot foot it over to your new favourite region.
    • Whether you wanna get lost in the souqs of Aleppo, float in Jordan’s Dead Sea or pretend you’re Luke Skywalker in Tunisia, this exotic region will surprise, delight and leave a traveller wanting more.
    • So jump on a Geckos Middle East or North Africa trip and lose yourself to Moroccan medinas, sleep under Saharan stars, explore Egypt’s pyramids, discover the hidden jewels of Petra, and kickstart your Arabian adventure asap.
    • Stone pillows anyone?
Ancient Egyptians used to sleep on pillows made out of stone. Sort of defeats the purpose.
    • Sweet & naked:
Pharoah Pepi II would smear his naked slaves with honey to keep the flies away from him.
    • Good parenting:
Jordanians believe that excessive praise of children brings bad luck (if all parents felt this way we’d never have to put up with shoes like X Factor).
    • A card, flowers and…coastline?
Marc Antony gave Cleopatra part of Turkey’s southwestern shore as a wedding gift. So consider your own souvenirs very carefully.
    • Doing it right:
The glue on Israeli stamps is kosher.

This was my fourth trip with Geckos. I had a great time traveling through Morocco, experiencing its culture and meeting Moroccan people. I can't name a favorite place because there were so many but I will never forget visiting a local home. A lady invited us into her home for tea.....her hospitality was heartwarming. Sahara!! What can I say....beautiful!!!!

My Trip was AMAZING!! I did My Camel Humps with one of my best friends and we had a blast! Egypt is an beautiful country and everyone we encountered was very friendly towards tourists. Our tour guide Hassan was very funny and informative and our whole group formed a nice family. I managed to check everything off my bucket list from riding a donkey and a camel to wandering through a pyramid, to a hot air balloon ride, to swimming in the Nile! I'm definitely going to recommend Geckos to everyone!! Thanks Geckos and Hassan!
