Every aspect was fantastic about my trip. Especially our tour guide Giscard, who could not possibly have been better; friendly, well-informed and very knowledgeable. Saying this however, there are some things that could have been improved. It was somewhat unorganised on arrival in Lima, which caused some discomfort and uncertainty. This was difficult because we didn't know what to do and there were no posters about our trip on the notice board (like there should have been). This was quickly solved the next day though, when our tour guide arrived. The toilet/bathroom facilities during our trek (four days) was quite appalling. This was the only negative throughout the experience. It's understood that it is minimal and it is in areas that don't allow fantastic amenities, but the standards could definitely have been higher; cleaner and more advanced or at least not so basic. Other than these minor inconveniences, the trip was fantastic!

Excellent and very smooth trip. All arrangements were handled by the trip leader. Just ask and he made it happen. All transfers and departure were all coordinated well. Extremely happy with tour!

We had an absolutely outstanding tour. This is the first time we had been on an organized tour as we usually plan things ourselves. Due to the large size of Peru and larger logistical challenges in working out transportation, we opted to try Geckos and were very pleased with our decision. Our group was an amazing group of very like-minded people, and we all got along fabulously. Our tour guides were also really committed to everyones' experience.

This was a fantastic journey and one that I will remember for the rest of my life. We went to experience current day Mexican culture and to learn more about pre-hispanic Mesoamerican civilisations. We felt we got both those in spades. We don't speak Spanish and so we felt this tour was perfectly pitched tour between immersion and structure. Tour guide was excellent, and hilarious, and we lucked out with a small but delightful group, mostly younger than ourselves. That worked well because we could choose to do the extra archaeological site and they could choose to party half the night without treading on each others toes.

Peru was awesome! Bolivia was ok, seemed to be forever on the move and didn't get to stop and see much. Brazil was great too. ALL 3 guides were FANTASTIC!

My guides were absolutely amazing. They were so knowledgable about their country and also so passionate. They took us to many great locations and also gave us great advice on other things to do while in each place.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip from Buenos Aires to Rio.
I have traveled with other companies including Intrepid and Kamuka, but i really enjoy the use of local guides - as they are a lot more passionate and knowledgeable about their country.Peru & the Incas

Trekking Machu Picchu is worth it for the amazing food you will be cooked by your staff!! This portion of our tour was done by Highlands Peru operations and I cannot recommend them enough.

I've never traveled with a tour group before, so I didn't know what to expect it to be like. But after touring around with the group we had and our amazing tour guide, I wouldn't have enjoyed or have seen as much of Peru if I were to have gone tried to do it all myself. The whole tour went so smoothly, I wouldn't have done Peru any other way.

there were to many early starts ( everyday we had to be up at 6-7 am which meant we coulndt really enjoy any nightlife unless you dont mind being hung over.We could have visited some of the archelogical sights in the afternoon /early evening because it is also cooler then like early morning...instead of having free time every arvo we could have had sleep ins and morning free time

Only one issue, I gave 4 post cards to Receptionist at Hotel in Cancun who assured me she would post them for me. That was 5 weeks ago and no one has received them. I have done this on numerous trips and had no problems before.

Need more info on the extra bills and tipping - they were really steep and added a lot to the cost of the trip. Would have preferred local transport instead of big bus companies. Also almost didn't make the trip due to no prior info about the ESTA - were denied our initial flight and lost the first day but appreciated the help from Geckos in organising the other end. Apart from that - a fabulous experience. Our tour guide was the best I've ever used on a tour.

Our tour guide Tito Zavala was amazing! He was very helpful throughout the tour and was always able to answer questions and provide info. He made us all feel very safe!!! By the end of the tour we were all like a big family.

This trip was BRILLIANT!! Make sure you don't mind bus travel though, because there is a few decent 5-7hrs bus rides b/w regions. This was our first time in South America, and what an experience! So many great memories, and it really does seem to encompass the best Peru has to offer - hence the name!!

Fantastic, all ran so smoothly thanks to our guide Alexs, very imformative and went above and beond his duty to take care of every one. Food was awsome much better than what we had been told to expect thanks to our guide who new where to go for good well priced food.

What can i say about my trip..it was AWESOME!!.
the main component to making my trip so good was the tour guide, Ernesto. He was simply amazing..words can't describe how good he was. he did everything asked of him and more. he was more than just a tour guide but also a friend. he went above and beyond the job description!

The Peru part of this trip was EXCELLENT! Fantastic guide, great activities. Only thing is our tents on the Inca Trail were not waterproof and it rained a lot which wasn't very good. However, the guides and porters were amazing.
The Bolivia part of the trip was not satisfactory. The tour guide was not good. It was disorganised. It did not follow the itinerary. Based on our experience in Bolivia, despite our excellent experience in Peru, we will not travel with Geckos again.

For the question three from the bottom, no we wouldn't travel with Gecko again, this is our answer as we would probably prefer a company that offered more options within the tour eg a flight instead of a horrid over night bus.

Really good memorable trip, we did the Lares Trail as we booked late, fair enough. Overall the guides were of a good standard and the accommodation comfortable. We are pretty experienced travellers and did feel at some times the guides and advise was over cautious, and time allowed for catching trains etc was a bit long.
