An excellent trip and itinerary! However when looking at booking, try to find trips that spend more than 2-3 days in each city because this is never enough time to explore everything! Also, look at doing some sections yourself without a tour at all, very doable!

I had two tour guides who where both fantastic an knew exactly what they where talking about. I would deffinately think about doing another gecko tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed most aspects of this tour. Our guides 'Dong' and "Rongtel' were fantastic; both very easy going, approachable and great fun to hang out with. One thing I'd change though is the final destination (Phuket Town). Although the hotel we stayed in was fine, Phuket town is a long way from the beach and prime shopping destinations. All in all, I had a great experience on this tour.

I didn't prepare or read much about the places we went to on this trip because I was super-busy at work before it, so I was very happy to be surprised again and again by all the wonderful places we went to, be it nature or monuments. Plus, people were all friendly and we had a really good group dynamic too! :)

This was the best trip I have ever been on and I travel a lot. Love the place, the tour guide was excellent, great accomodation, great food. We saw a lot and Thailand will stay with me for ever. Nothing was too much trouble for the tour leader Chawalit Patan (SAR), he was extreemly helpful, enthusiastic and participated in group games and made us all feel welcome. He was accomodating and helped me as I have food allergies. He is a credit to Gecko Tours.

I found Tales of Old Siam a very good short introduction to Thailand. We covered most hot spots with enough free time. Our guide showed us many different types of foods. Arrive a day early and venture out into Bangkok to see a few markets (floating are very good)and temples. If you would like a taste of trekking our 2 day trek out of Chang Mai would be good for you. Enjoy.

This Gecko's tour was everything I hoped it would be! You get the best of both worlds when it comes to this tour. you get ample free time and optional activities to choose from, as well as getting to see all the sights Cambodia has to offer. Boreth our local tour guide was fantastic as well! it was great to have a local guide that knew so much about the country and could tell you a lot more about the sights than what a book would tell you. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wishing to travel to Cambodia, who would still like to see all the sights yet gives you time to do your own exploring and to find your own little treasures and adventures that beautiful Cambodia has to offer!

What a phenomenal holiday. We absolutely loved the Mt Kinabalu climb. The accommodation was generally superb and we were lucky to have a great group of enthusiastic travellers, which made it a trip to remember. Despite the fact that our itinerary was changed at the last minute (due to rebel insurgency and a 'Do Not Travel' warning for in East Sabah), our guide Rony made up for it. He was a fantastic leader and companion, and he provided us with incredible experiences and genuine insights into the culture and workings of Malaysia. I learnt a great deal and am very keen to visit again!

It is my first trip to Thailand so it has been an amazing experience and a very good introductory tour of Thailand. Every detail was very well thought of in the itinerary and we got to see so much during a short space of time. The only disappointing thing was the itinerary we received was out-of-date and some tours were actually cancelled i.e. James Bond Island. I fully understand the reason why that tour was cancelled because it was unsafe to travel on the long-tail boat but it would have been better if we had received a more up-to-date itinerary rather than using one that was from 2012.

I have done a number of Geckos trips now and this would be one of my highlights. There were only 5 of us during the Thailand and Laos component and this was an ideal number. The group expanded to 10 in Cambodia, and unfortunately, there were 1 or 2 passengers who needed a lesson in cultural awareness and sensitivity. This however, is not an issue Geckos can control, and it didn't affect my enjoyment of the experience, it was just an embarrassment to me as they were of the same nationality as myself. I felt like apologizing for their behavior.

A continuous tour, never in one place very long so in many ways is a taster for where to go back to. You live out of a suitcase - pack light - many hotels do not have lifts. Hotel quality is better than the itinerary implies. Guides were good but it pays to read up before you go to maximise time. Train travel in Vietnam is OK but beds can be grubby so suggest buying a "silk" sleeping bag liner in Hanoi before you start $5 - they are sold everywhere. Spending guidance - tours, food and beer under £800

I appreciate that geckos are giving local tour guides a go, although there is more changes this way, it was very well organised.

This trip was amazing. I met some great people and loved the grassroots experiences. I did have an issue with my Vietnam visa that was swiftly rectified by Geckos and I couldn't have asked for better service on the issue. The tour guides were amazing, knowledgable abd friendly. I would highly recommend the trip! My only criticism would be that lack of information about how much extra money would be needed for tipping and optional extras, and the need for US dollars for border crossovers.

This was a great trip covering the highlights of northern Laos and Cambodia, with informative guides to give the background, show us the sights and answer all those tricky questions. There's a lot of free time so you have to be prepared to do your own thing. As a solo traveller in a small group with couples, that can be awkward, but if you're independent minded it's OK. Accommodation is very basic in Laos but clean enough. Take good bug repellent and sunscreen!

My trip from Hanoi to Bangkok was a fantastic experience. Beginning in the busy and bustling Hanoi we made our way southwards experiencing all of Vietnam's wonders in each city we visited. The cadence of the tour was just right stopping long enough to discover but not too long. The modes of transport added variety to the trip and I didn't mind too much the overnight train journeys. My favourite city in Vietnam was Hoi An (hire a motor scooter for $5 a day and get out into the countryside). Siem Reap in Cambodia and the amazing Angkor temples were truly wonderful. My only suggestion for improvement would be for Geckos to include more organised activities in the final destination, Bangkok.

Overall I thought the tour was great and gave me the opportunity to see so much of what is a beautiful country. While buddhism is obviously a huge part of life in Burma and developing an understanding of it is important when learning about the culture, however I felt the tour had too many visits to pagodas and temples etc. Instead I feel that more time could have been spent visiting local communities and actually meeting some of the people. The final part of the tour was a visit to Golden Rock and when we arrived it was completely covered with scaffolding. Our guide was apparently unaware of this. This should have been communicated to him/us before we arrived.

I came into Cambodia not knowing too much about the country and after this trip, I'd say I learned more about Cambodia than all the other countries I visited in Southeast Asia. I got insight into to the culture, history (both ancient and modern), politics, current social issues, etc.. The Gecko tour was definitely a great learning experience. The juxtaposition between the destructive force of the Khmer Rouge/Pol Pot regime, amazing ancient civilization of pre-Angkorian times, and more recent community developments was a very interesting and insightful one to see.

I was very disappointed with Geckos. From the moment we spoke with Priscilla at the Melbourne office, we had a bad experience. This trip was for our honeymoon and we wanted to be back for Christmas, which meant leaving the trip a day early. Pricilla was hopeless in helping us with this request, she gave very little information about the trip and didn't tell us we needed a visa. The trip certainly wasn't an adventure. I have been with Intrepid before where I had an amazing experience, going 'off the beaten track' and experiencing the culture of the country. This Gecko trip was the opposite. It was touristy and I didn't feel at all like I experienced Vietnam. It was also terrible value for money. I could have done this trip by myself for a third of the cost. I wont be doing a Gecko trip ever again or recommending it. I have heard that Gecko may have bought Intrepid - if this is the case I hope Gecko doesn't start ruining Intrepid trips.

He not only told us the "tourist" story for the trip, he also shared his life experience of growing up in Cambodia and of the changes in the last 30 or so years. We saw the real Cambodia. The tour was easy going, interesting and educational, plus having a guide who knew where to eat and take photos was a bonus. I will return to Cambodia for a longer trip with Gecko. Thank you Kheang for sharing Cambodia!!

This tour was by far the best tour I have been on yet. The accommodation and transfers were extremely well organised and of a great standard. Any queries we had were always dealt with immediately by our tour guide. Our tour guide was sensational, he was friendly, positive and ultimately helped make our trip so great! Vietnam is such an amazing country with loads to see and I felt as though we covered everything quite throughly. The small group enabled us to move around faster and be located easier. We were always on the go but it was great that we had the option to choose what day tours we wanted to do. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone.

This was an great tour which turned awesome with the help of our guide Jack! He had so much knowledge and was always up for a laugh, teaching us about Thai culture and generally being positive everyday. The only thing that would have made the tour better, would have been hotels in Koh Samui and Phuket closer to the main tourist areas, so travel was not such an issue at the end of the night! Otherwise everything was brilliant :) Cant wait for my next gecko tour!

id like to say a special thanks to my tour guide ra pinpong for a very special welcome and happy trip, he was very generous and thankful for our surroundings and the places we went to, i personally think he deserves a pay-raise because of his outstanding exceptional behaviour and well-being he was a very good tour guide and very nice, whenver i asked and needed him for advice he deserves a special reward for being such a good guy and he is very very nice to his guests, because he always has a smile on his face and a haopy response, he always tries to explain the thai culture and why/how things are in place as they are today, i want to thank him and gecko for organizing such an amazing experience for us today, i hope to go on another gecko trip in the future because i enjoyed it so much and my tour guide made it even more fantastic, i would personally recommend this tour to any of my friends or family because it definetly made it worth while. The Thai leg of the trip was probably the part with less "zing" but was probably due more to having less time here. Full credit and respect to both Lam (i forget the surname) and Prak Panha which were our tour guides in both Vietnam and Cambodia. I would happily recommend this tour, and these tour guides to any friends and family that want an adventure and wish to gain valuable knowledge and respect for these countries.

I absolutely loved the trip! It was fantastically organised and the tour leaders were amazing. Our tour leader in Vietnam was Lam Nguyen. He was very friendly and knew so much about each place we visited. He was also very flexible with how we could do things (e.g. we could cycle to attractions if we wanted to or take other forms of transport). In Cambodia, our tour leader was Panha Prak. Panha was also great and friendly. He knew so much about Cambodian history and interacted with the group really well. The only criticism of the tour I have is the hotel that we stayed in in Nha Trang (Hotel Saigon). It was quite run down and uncomfortable. All in all, the tour guides were amazing and I really enjoyed the tour. I can't wait to go on my next Gecko's adventure!

There seemed to be a lot of extra costs that were not made aware to other the the travellers, which meant when we were faced with these additional charges we were left wondering what we played for in the first place. However I think it may have been that our guide wanted us to really have a great and full experience so was getting us to do the additional activities not included but most were unaware of this. The trip was amazing, really so great to experience such a beautiful country with a fantastic leader. It really was the 'best of Burma' trip, focusing on the main cities and monuments around the country that travellers need to see for their first time to Burma. As the country is opening up to tourism, it would be great to see a trip from Gecko that takes travellers to other parts of Burma, in the more outlying areas than normal travellers would never get to experience, and a chance to see more of this diverse country. Really beautiful country and amazing trip.

Angkopr Wat is amazing but one day is sufficient. The trip has given me a taste of Cambodia and I will return to do more exploring at Siem Reap, Battambang, Sihanoukville not in wet season, Kep and Kampot. Ten days is sufficient for your first time to Cambodia and this tour provides you with visits to the main temples, beach area, city life, Chambok homestay and village travels. Highly recommend.

Being a single 20-something independant traveller it was dishearting that half the group was made up of a family and then much older age group couples. Thus limiting my interaction with the group and meeting new people. That being said the Tour Leader was very helpful in commodating my needs. The trains had cockroaches and the rooms were often littered with rubbish. I was not impressed that the rooms were not pre-booked by Geckos. This comment should in NO WAY reflect on our tour leader. KHOA NGUYEN sought to make the overnight train as comfortable as possible and I commend his efforts.

A very good trip overall, however it lets itself down by the pricing structure and the various add-ons that are not includedin the tour price up front. As a lot of people are caught out with the "US cash only" arrangement in Burma, it would help greatly o include most of the activitie in the price up front, so that we don't have to spend ou cash on additional extras that weren't accounted for originally (eg like the horse carts, bikes etc)

The trip was excellent and all tour leaders fantastic. I could not fault anything on the trip. The only suggestion I would make is to let people know that if you enter Thailand via land you can only stay for 15 days. We are planning to stay two ad a half weeks and had I known we couldn't stay for thirty days like it said on the visa website I would have applied for a visa. We will now have to pay $50 per extra day we saty over the 15 days. Maybe just highlight this is the case in the trip notes.

I loved my trip, and thought very highly of the tour leaders. I did feel it would be good to have an option when visiting sites - I prefer not to have a guide but to look round at my own pace. I felt at some destinations I was compelled to wait for the tour guide when I would have preferred to spend the time on my own. Everything else great though!

This trip was AWESOME! The Vietnamese people are lovely, and the food? Oh my god the food!!!! NEVER have i experienced so many amazing, fresh flavours. Each city we visited had it's own piece of history, natural beauty and local cuisine. Our local guide Trung was an absolute legend, very knowledgeable about all the areas he took us, showing us local restaurants where we were the only foreigners, and so much fun, PAH! Nothing was too much trouble for him. He totally made this trip! Thanks Trung. Ma ma MA maa Maa :) Cambodia had a lot of history, although quite sad and depressing in Pnomh Penh, but its still a must see. Angkor Wat is Incredible, especially at sunset.

Overall this was an amazing experience, only a few things I would've done differently to make it perfect. For example the night we spent in the National park and only experienced canoeing was a little disappointing. I would have liked to actual experience the national park to its full extent (I understand there is limited time in such a short trip, but I believe the time we had could've been used to provide better experience)

Highlights were definitely the slow boat on the Mekong, and tubing in Vang Vieng (not part of the tour). Personally, I didn't like Bangkok that much, so wish I didn't have to go back there at the end of Laos. It would have been nice to finish with an extra day in Vientiane and fly out from there.

It must be understood that Nyi Nyi is leading a tour group through a country where open and frank discussion about his nation's history is still socially and professionally impossible. Therefore, it is unfair to expect Nyi Nyi to give as much information as I would expect other leaders, in other, less repressed states to be able to deliver.

It could be made clearer that only the accommodation and travel is covered in the cost of the tour. Although its great to have the option to do things if the whole group doesn't want to then you can't do it. The Halong overnight boat should be included at there is nothing in the town to do and i'm sure that the cost of the overnight trip would not be that much extra.

The trip was great. I was able to see everything I wanted to see -Koh Ker, Batang Melea, Angkor Wat, and many other temples. The highlight of my trip though would not be a temple, but the adventure I took on my own renting a quad and roaming the rice fields and rural areas of the surrounding Siem Reap. My tour leader was knowledgable and knew how to have a good time with the group. Very adaptive and accommodating. The only down side was I should have paid attention to how much I spent - Cambodia can be pretty costly for some things.

The Vietnam North to South trip was awesome - I had never been on an organised tour before, turned out to be a small group of only 5 of us, all similar age and got along really well. The trip was fast paced, but with plenty of time to relax and do our own thing. The food in Vietnam was incredible, and it was so cool to be able to just sit back and enjoy the surroundings without feeling stressed. Ky was an amazing guide, he was super organised and was always looking out for us and making sure we didn't forget bags/passports/wallets etc. He also had a great sense of humour and felt like more of a friend than a guide by the end of it! Highlights were Hoi An and Da Lat, and the boat cruise in Ha Long Bay. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is young, reasonably fit and loves culture, food and getting amongst nature.

The trip was great. I loved the laid back feel of the tour. We were never rushed at a train or bus station, we had time to sit around and relax and meet some locals or visit some of the local shops in those towns. Each place I visited was very special in it's own way. Bangkok was busy, whereas Koh Tao was laid back and relaxing. It was great to visit such a diverse range of places in only 9 days. I loved the flexibility of the trip. I got to see some Muay Thai in Koh Samui, which I know on other tours, this would not have been available to me. My favourite part of the trip was all the public transport. I was able to see so much of the country and meet some wonderful local people and see life from their point of view, rather than rushing around the country with all the other foreigners. Thanks Gecko, love your work :)

Overall it was an amazing tour that I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a cultural experience that provides you with adventure and activity. Our primary guide provided us with daily sightseeing trips, great restaurants and suggestions. The hotels were above our expectations, several with beautiful amenities that our group enjoyed using together. The people in my tour group all became close friends quite quickly and we felt friendly and comfortable with our tour guide almost right away as well. Today is the last day of the tour and I can say that I have a better perspective of culture and travel and have left with a handful of new quality friends. A third of our group is extending a vacation together to the islands of Thailand where we are spending a few more weeks together. The vive Vietnam tour was sensational, I loved the freedom of the days but the organisation of the transport and accomodation. I was very impressed with the hotels we stayed at, the sleeper trains weren't the most comfortable transport but they got us from place to place. Our tour leader Quan was brilliant, he made me trip so memorable and helped with everything I needed. He informed us with all the history of the country and took us to great resturants and was very entertaining throughout the entire trip. The halong bay cruise was amazing deinitely a highlight :) We were pretty lucky with the weather although make sure you pal an umbrella and rain coat because its still rains for periods on and off. Having a small group of 8 people was really enjoyable as we all became a little family and did all the activities together sharing the memories. Overall it was the best trip/tour I have ever done and I would recommend a geckos tour to anyone.

Phnom Penh is more the industrial area of Cambodia with the killind fields and S21 the real highlights whilst a harrowing experience it is worth it. Siem Reap is definately the cultural city and more accomodating to the tourist. Whilst Cambodia is a poverty stricken country its resourcefulness and the people are truely remarkable. Only thing that was needed was another day in Hoi An. This was my second trip to Vietnam. First time free travelling similar route, but with Geckos I saw so much more; it was like visiting the country for the first time. It's the only Vietnam trip to do. Met people on shorter trips and they missed so much! Vietnam encompassed is the only way to see this country. This trip is an absolute must do.

Fantastic experience - the only critisim is that I believe Saigon (Ho Chi Minh)should be cut to one day only - we were non-stop hassled in this city and although we wanted to see it - one day would have been enough and an extra day in Hoi An definately needed (most beautiful town in Vietnam for me - town of laterns, art and shopping and gorgeous at night). Our Tour Leader was second to none - Thanh Vo really looked after all of us - went over and beyond every day and was one of the nicest and sweetest people we had ever met - could not have done Vietnam without him and with how Geckos do it - you have just as much free time as planned tour time and the travel, tipping, transfers, transport, language etc is seamless and so easy with your Tour Leader - loved it but be ready for a culture hit and have your guard up and be savvy in Saigon and at night in Nha Trang - you must do nightclub though in Hanoi - unbelievable!! - happy travels!!!

Some of the pre-trip information was misleading. Despite what some of it said, the accommodation was very good throughout and I definitely didn't need to bring a sleeping bag. Also the 'hiking' was very easy and in no way did I need to bring proper walking shoes! Both added weight to my pack and were never used!

The information relating to currency was very confusing. The dollar is not widely used and the exchange rate in kyats depends on the denomination of the notes. The exchange rate at the airport is not good and was not recommended by our tour leader. The recommended amount to be spent on meals and snacks was way over the top but this could depend on the make up of the group. The tipping kitty was an excellent idea. There is no-where on the train to fasten luggage with a chain so it isn't necessary to take one. A water bottle just was not necessary as all the drinking water was provided in bottles anyway. The phrase book wasn't necessary either.

This was an amazing tour. I toured with my husband. Our leader Anek was very knowledgable and obsiously passionate about his country and sharing as much information as he could about Thailand. We had some great experiences, highlights being meeting the local people and being immersed in their culture (especially up north with the hill tribes), and the stay at the Elephant Conservation Centre in Lampang. That was truely amazing! We actually thought we would be roughing it a bit more on this tour but the accommodation each night at a different location was always totally acceptable with comfortable beds and clean amenities. Tip - take loo paper and ear plugs though for overnight train trip and snorers when sharing a room with other travellers! We now feel we have a good grasp of what life is like for Thai people, their religion and their culture, which was our whole reason for doing this tour. Now off to the Sth beaches for some relaxing!!

This trip was a really excellent way to see some of the inner, less accessible areas of Sarawak. It was great to step away from the hum-drum routine of daily life, gaining a glimpse into another culture that was different enough to feel like an adventure.... one that felt more like a month rather than 10 days seeing as we fitted so much action in! There was enough flexibility to feel that you were independent, yet enough support to make it easy! The best of both worlds. We saw very few tourists and had many opportunity to interact with the locals which certainly enhanced the experience.

Ly Sok Kheang was everything you could want in a tour guide- professional, friendly and he gave us a real sense of the turmoil that Cambodia has been through in recent history. The scenery was amazing at Angkor, Phnom Penh was raw and fascinating, and the killing fields were definitely worth seeing, even though emotionally it can be quite hard to process. Our group got on really well and all in all it was one of the best holidays I've ever been on.

Wonderful mix of jungle, beach, big city, temples - plenty to do!! Just a tiny bit too long in Vietnam and not enough in Cambodia/Thailand - the pace of the tour was slow to start and then all a bit too quick at the end. Really loved the trip and all included experiences, but think that more breakfasts could be provided at guesthouses, as we were encouraged to support the owners of these establishments whilst away, so often purchased breakfasts at the location anyway.
An additional activity or provision for 'The Gibbon Experience' would be wonderful as although it is available to participate in, being dependent on the train arrival times makes it difficult to book in. One extra day in this location?

I met great people & was relieved when I met 4 other single travelers! I met a lovely Swisse couple in amongst our Aussie group! Saigon was a great start although short & sweet- just enough to get a taste for more! The drives to the borders were long but gave us great bonding time & see the sights.
Cambodia was amazing. With great food, I learnt so much about its history & how far they've risen from upheaval. I'll never forget that I prayed to a Buddha from the 9th Century in Angkor Wat, Siem Reap! Bangkok was short and sweet again. I found it to be too commercialised compared to Cambodia & Vietnam. I would consider Laos instead. I had no incidents with local crime, crossing borders or health. The locals don't treat you any differently. I loved the haggling at markets, all in the name of fun.

One more night in Chang Mai would have been beneficial as a whole day was spent trekking there wasn't much time left for exploring Chang Mai (which has a lot to offer). And it would have been a great time for a rest stop, as the tour was so action packed.

This trip really surprised us, we did not expect to see so much non-touristy things, and honestly did not expect to have such a backpacker feel. The day-time traveling was hard, and it was also very difficult to sleep on the night-train. But overall we were very happy with the trip, but wouldn't say we are rested after it, quite frankly. :) We did enjoy our traveling group quite a bit so it all worked out in the end.

I had amazing tour and our tour guide Ae was great! She knows how to guide poeple who don't know each other. She can answer every question, knows a lot about the country and its people and she has a great sence of humor.

Two things what I would like to recommend: First: Please let the customers know that the north of Laos can be very, very cold in December in the monrnings, nights and evenings. We all expected warmer temperatures and had the wrong clothes with us.
Second: I really appreciate to get in contact with local people. But a local bus from Vang Vieng to Vientiane is too much! It's a 5 hours trip with locals who are not very amused to drive with people, who could afford a better bus and sitting now on their places. And for us was the drive not a experience we needed to know.

Thank you Gecko tours, I will recommend
your agency and for sure: I will book a tour with again!

Unfortunately, one group member found the physical aspects of the tour quite challenging due to her age, and this impacted on the other group members as she demanded a large amount of our guide's time and energy.

Possibly implement a few age brackets for tours (maybe 30 and under, 30+ and open) or even an age restriction for older people. We had a 72 or something year old who really wasn't suited for the trip. I was worried about having older people on my tour. I was the youngest in my group (21) and most of the others were older but it was actually fine and I had no problems. Others who in the future are looking at going on a tour may be disappointed however, especially seeing as geckos is supposed to be aimed at a "younger audience" and they might be expecting that.

The trip was simply amazing! The amount of experiences throughout my time in Vietnam will forever provide me with many fond memories. The vast amount of scenery, activities and sights explored is great as well as many opportunities to do your own thing in free time. Combined with a fun tour leader and good company in new found friends, Gecko's have created great opportunities for those wanting to get out and explore the world!

His ability to organise and take care of the people on his tour was evident and he gained my total trust as we ate street food night after night without even a hint of illness. All the small places i would never have found on my own or been brave enough to try combined with all the optional activities he provided for us contributed to the BEST tour I have ever experienced. The experience of travelling within Vietnam on the buses and trains and the sleeper buses was definately an experience. The homestays were the best of all. The only downside was the "dayrooms". The places visited on the tour were great, and despite being a grassroots tour, the accommodation was of a higher standard than expected. Some of the travel (including bus trips up to 7-8 hours) were tedious and at times monotonous, but necessary given the places visited on the tour. Gecko's dedication to the respect of the culture and environment of countries visited is to be admired. I was really pleased with everything on this trip. I felt that we had been adequately briefed with what to expect on the tour and that it did not disappoint. The tour guides were excellent and they were determined to make the experience as comfortable as possible for everyone.

I did feel that in general I wasn't aware before hand that we would be swapping groups half way through and that the handover between the groups was not as smooth as it could have been.

The fact that we really enjoyed ourselves despite the terrible flooding in Thiland was a credit to the tour guides who did a lot to allay our fears/concerns.

One point I would also note is that on some of the longer journeys we did on local songthoaws it was pretty uncomfortable. On the longer journeys (2-3 hours plus) I would wonder whether a chartered bus may have been more appropriate (although admittedly more expensive...)

Overall, however, I was delighted with the trip and had a wonderful time.

Great trip where you will be challenged on what you were expecting. Very confronting at times, so read up first in order to understand the history of the country and what has shaped it. Well looked after on the trip, and many opportunities to meet with local people and have different experiences of what the country has to offer.

Make sure that you are able to undertake the more adventurous parts of the tour, such as the trek.  Although it says moderate, even some of the younger people found it difficult.  Correct foot wear for some of the activities is a must.

Excellent trip - well organised and apart from a minor blip with our accommodation in Bangkok everything was a good standard.   Great accommodation elsewhere especially Siem Reap - and also great tour guides and a sensible and interesting itinerary giving plenty of free time everywhere.

Read up beforehand so that you make the most of your free time and don't miss out on loads of sites of huge historical significance - we had a day and a half extra time at Siem Reap and spent it looking at all the other amazing temples  - so glad we did, and at Ho Chi Minh City we saw the Palace/US command centre in the Vietnam war and the War Remnants Museum.
