High Thai'd

Sailing the tropical waters around Thailand obviously makes for a terrible holiday. White sand beaches, limestone half pipes, snorkeling, waterfalls, swimming, cocktails, Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Mango Bay, Koh Phangan… Awful.

There's nothing worse than busting a flip-flop in the middle of your trip. You can always buy a cheap pair of replacements but we all know that ends in blisters. Why not get creative and try our favourite emergency repair methods:

  • - Duct tape.
  • - Paper clip
  • - Hair tie
  • - Melt it into place with a lighter (carefully, you don't want it to end up in a puddle on the pavement)

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Koh Samui - Mai Nam Beach to Ang Thong Marine Park

Meals included: 1 dinner

Meet your skipper, yacht and other passengers in the early afternoon and set sail for Ang Thong Marine Park, a fascinating group of 42 islands featuring lime stone massifs, dense forrests which are home to Langurs, Crab Eating Monkeys, Monitor Lizards, Hornbills  and deserted beaches.  Highlights include the beautiful Koh Mae Beach and Thale Nai Snorkelling  (Emerald Lake) Lookout. Climb to Emerald Lake which is fed by an underground cave for a spectacular lookout (need good footwear)

Day 2: Ang Thong Marine Park

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner

Discover the natural beauty, explore the coves and overlapping limestone half pipes by kayak and marvel the underwater world while snorkelling in the famous Ang Thong National Marine Park.  Finish the day by dropping anchor and enjoy your own barbeque right on one of the parks beautiful beaches whilst watching the sun set over the horizon. Ang Thong is great for night squid fishing.

Day 3: Mae Hat town - Koh Tao

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Spend the day sailing to Koh Tao one of Southern Thailand's true tropical island escapes.  Swim in tropical waters, laze on the pristine white sand beaches and take in the stunning scenery before arriving at Mae Hat on Koh Tao.  Head out for the evening to enjoy a delicious Thai meal or have a drink in one of the beach bars.

Day 4: Koh Tao - Mango Bay

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 dinner

After reconnecting with civilisation we set sail for Mango Bay, a bay on the northern Tip of Koh Tao.  The landscape consists of high rocky cliffs and lush green hillsides rising up from the water's edge. The clear blue-green waters of Mango Bay are great for swimming and snorkelling or perhaps head up to have lunch at a restaurant offering breathtaking views.

Day 5: Thong Nai Pain Bay, Koh Phangan

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch, 1 dinner

We leave Koh Tao for its bigger sister, Koh Phangan.  The beaches of Thong Nai Pan are a picture of paradise with softly curved white sand bays surrounded by mountains covered in rich tropical rainforest.   Swim on the beautiful beach, enjoy a bbq on the beach or walk along a river trail to Than Sadet Waterfall for a swim

Day 6: Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Koh Phangan is well known for its full moon party that takes place on Haad Rin Beach every full moon.   A bustling little town you can opt to explore the restaurants and bars,  relax under swaying coconut palms or take it all in from the boat.

All good things must come to an end so we set sail for our final destination Koh Samui.   There is still plenty of time to take one last swim, snorkel or kayak before we arrive.

Day 7: Koh Samui

Meals included: 1 breakfast

All good things must come to an end so we set sail for our final destination Koh Samui. There is still plenty of time to take one last swim, snorkel or kayak before we arrive.

Accommodation
This trip is accommodated on board a catamaran boat. Our boats are equipped with twin-share cabins, and shared bathrooms (1-4) The average size of the boat is 53 feet. Fresh water is available for showers, and toilets are either electronic or the hand pump variety. The boat is equipped with a motor for times when the wind is not sufficient for sailing. Our boats are real yachts and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible. The skipper will allocate the rooms on arrival to the boat and single travellers will be paired up with another passenger of the same sex, this may mean sharing a double mattress. The skipper will also be sharing the yacht's facilities and sleeping quarters. While some may find the living quarters quite close, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort is more than made up for by the spirit of this sailing experience.

Group Leader
On your Thailand sailing trip you will be accompanied by one of our skippers and a chef. Your skipper's role involves taking charge of the sailing, organising the overall operation and smooth-running of the trip, managing trip logistics, safety of the vessel and safety for all passengers on board. All skippers have extensive sailing miles experience and hold a 'yacht master offshore license' or higher. They have been carefully selected and undergone intensive training of each itinerary they sail. While not being guides in the traditional sense you can expect your skipper to have a broad general knowledge of the places visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious and social aspects. Your chef will prepare tasty local cuisine meals using the best of the local fresh produce available.

Dietary Requirements
Any dietary requirements need to be provided at the time of booking so that included meals can be properly catered for. Your crew will endeavour to cater for most dietary requirements.

Passport details
Please provide full passport details at time of booking including exact name as per passport, date of birth, nationality, issue and expiry dates as these are essential for booking services on this trip.

National Park Fees
All travellers must pay National Park fees locally. Please allow US$20 for these fees.

Emergency Contact

If you find that you are unable to make the scheduled meeting time please contact the Skipper on +66 87 885 3605. If you are unable to contact the Skipper please contact our Sailing Operations Manager on +66 811 424 210.

Itinerary Variations

The beauty of sailing is that each day is unique and, while we have a destination to reach, if the weather changes or something takes the group’s fancy, we can be flexible on the day's itinerary.
