Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Le Marin to Anse d'Arlet

Meet your Skipper and fellow Travellers at 2pm at the Dream Yacht Charter Office, Le Marin and set sail for Anse d’ Arlet. Choose to take a relaxing hike up Morne Champagne for some spectacular views, snorkel in the crystal clear sea, laze on the beach or explore the cute village before having dinner ashore!

Day 2: Saint Pierre

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

We depart after Breakfast and drop anchor and take a break in Fort de France, the Capital of Martinique. Fort de France oozes charm from its luscious hills and captivating local flavour. There is a historic feel to its narrow streets, wrought-iron balconies and shuttered doors. We then continue to the sleepy village of Saint Pierre with the Volcano Mt. PelĂ©e looming in the background. Once a vibrant colonial city known as the ‘Paris of the West Indies’ this prosperous little city was renowned for its beauty but was destroyed by an eruption in 1902 and never restored to its old glory . Hike up Mt Pelee, spend time on a beach or just have look at the old buildings that survived the eruption

Day 3: Rodney Bay - St Lucia

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Set Sail right after Breakfast and experience our first offshore sailing heading to the lush green, tropical Island of St Lucia. Arrive in lively Rodney Bay for a late lunch and enjoy local life and its shops, bars and restaurants. Visit Pigeon Island, home of the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival and one of the Caribbean’s most historic landmarks and most beautiful spots in St. Lucia. 44 acres of sloping grasslands, dry tropical forests, beaches and twin peaks and in the Evening enjoy the nightlife of Rodney bay!

Day 4: Marigot Bay

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

We then set sail for Marigot Bay, famously described as ‘The most beautiful bay in the Caribbean’ by author James A Michener. It has featured in numerous films, including Dr Dolittle, and is a favourite haunt of Catherine Zeta-Jones. Here we can organise an Island Tour or you can just simply enjoy the day snorkelling from the Boat. Walk to the white sandy Beach or for the more energetic ones hike and take in the stunning View over Marigot Bay.

Day 5: The Pitons

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

Head for Soufriere Bay and World Heritage Site The Pitonsa set of twin volcanoes. Discover the volcano, the waterfalls, hot springs and the town of Soufriere.

Day 6: Saint Anne

Meals included: 1 breakfast, 1 lunch

We leave the beautiful island of St Lucia for long days sail to the charming village of Saint Anne in Martinique. St. Anne is a charming village with its attractive anchorage, boutiques, fishing boats and local market and is a great place to spend our last evening.

Important Information

Trip Kitty

On this trip it's compulsory to contribute to a kitty. The kitty is an on-ground payment put into a central fund managed by travellers. It helps fund for breakfast and lunch on the boat and other small items such as ice, water, snacks and drinks. Travellers are responsible for the preparation of these meals onboard and to shop at port where supermarkets are often very close to the mooring. Kitty amounts are subject to change to reflect local price increases. On day 1, the skipper will talk through the kitty and how it will be managed (by yourself or fellow travellers). The kitty will be collected by your skipper on day 1. The Kitty amount for this trip is US$100 to be paid in cash.

This trip is accommodated entirely on board a yacht of between 48ft to 52ft. A typical 52ft yacht for 10 travellers is equipped with 5 twin/double share cabins, 3 shared bathrooms and 2 showers. Our boats are real yachts and this is a real sailing trip. Yachts are designed to keep sleeping areas to the absolute minimum of space, while maximising common areas as much as possible. Smaller yachts will be used for smaller groups sizes. Rooms are allocated on arrival by our skipper according to group composition, which means it is not possible to reserve or guarantee any specific berth or cabin. Single passengers will be paired up with another passenger of the same gender, this may mean sharing a double cabin with a double mattress. Everyone including the skipper shares the bathrooms on board. While not everyone may feel entirely comfortable living in such close quarters, those who are looking to revel in the adventure and exhilaration of an authentic sailing trip usually find any discomfort from cramped living conditions is more than made up for by the whole experience.

Group Leader

On this trip you will be accompanied by one of our skippers. Your skipper's role involves taking charge of the sailing, the safety of the vessel and safety for all passengers on board. Skippers all hold a Yacht Master Offshore license or higher and have completed an intense training and review process before sailing with us. The aim of the skipper is also to take the hassle out of your travels by organizing the overall operation and smooth-running of the trip, managing trip logistics and coordinating the kitty (where applicable). Your skipper will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues and introduce you to our local friends. While not being guides in the traditional sense you can expect skippers to have a broad general knowledge of the places visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious and social aspects.

The breakfasts and lunches included will come from the trip Kitty payment outlined above. Please budget for additional meals and expenses while on your trip. We recommend budgeting approximately US$250 per person for additional meals. Costs in the Caribbean tend to be higher than other parts of the world with limited budget options. Our suggestion is based on research and past traveller feedback but you may choose to spend more or less and it does not include alcoholic beverages.

Please note:
The operator for this Gecko's trip is our experienced sister company Intrepid travel. Your group will therefore be a mixture of Gecko's booked passengers and other international like-minded travellers.

Dietary Requirements
Any dietary requirements need to be provided at the time of booking so that included meals can be properly catered for. Your crew will endeavour to cater for most dietary requirements.

Passport details
Please provide full passport details at time of booking including exact name as per passport, date of birth, nationality, issue and expiry dates as these are essential for booking services on this trip.
