Why You'll love Africa

Spot elephants in Kenya.

See the Big 5 on a safari

Dorothy may have been all about lions and tigers and bears (oh my!), but in Africa it’s all about the Big 5. The African elephant, the black rhino, the Cape buffalo, the African lion and the African leopard are the ones to keep your eyes peeled for on a safari. So grab your binoculars and jump aboard your overland vehicle.

All aboard an African safari

Meet the red-robed warriors of the Masai Mara.

Jump with warriors in the Masai Mara

The Masai Mara’s wide open plains, postcard-perfect skies and herds of wild animals are an Instagrammer’s delight (if you can get any reception). But it’s also home to the Maasai people, one of Kenya’s most famous tribes. You might have seen pics of these red-clad warriors taking part in jumping dances – they’ve maintained a traditional way of life and welcome everyone to come and learn about their vibrant culture.

Jump to an East African adventure

Witness the incredible Victoria Falls.

Admire the majestic Victoria Falls

If you’re partial to a waterfall or two, Victoria Falls is one to tick off your bucket list. Just casually considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, Vic Falls is technically the largest waterfall in the world (even though it is neither the highest or widest). This is because the sheet of water that falls from it is technically the biggest overall – winner!

Get wet at Victoria Falls

Witness the Great Migration in Africa.

Spot wildebeest during the Great Migration

If you head to East Africa’s Masai Mara or Serengeti, you might be lucky enough to see the wildebeest (and more) during the Great Migration. While we understand no-one wants to relive the traumatic scene from the Lion King where Mufasa gets trampled by a herd of wildebeests (spoiler alert), seeing them in real life is actually pretty amazing.

Run wild with the wildebeests

Explore Johannesburg on wheels.

Cycle through the iconic Soweto

Head to Jo’burg and explore Soweto on wheels. This colourful region is home to more than three million people and was an iconic location in the anti-apartheid movement. You’ll see where Nelson Mandela used to live, hit up a local shebeen bar for a cold drink and roll past Desmond Tutu’s house.  A history lesson, a bike ride and couple of drinks? What more could you want?

Cycle Soweto on an Urban Adventure

Spot the king of the savanna in Tanzania.

See the sights of the Serengeti National Park

Tanzania’s Serengeti is home to all the African animals you’ve been dying to see – lions, hippos, elephants – you name it! It’s also known for some pretty stunning scenery and even an exploded volcano. The Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled crater and is home to thousands of wild animals living inside.
