10 facty things about Thailand
Read time: a bit over 1 minute
Dreaming of escaping to Thailand? Us too. Like right now. Here’s some stuff we bet you didn’t know about the land of Pad Thai.
Bangkok’s full name is Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharatratchathaniburirom Udomratchaniwetmahasathan Amonphimanawatansathit Sakkathattiyawitsanukamprasit. This translate literally to: ‘The city of angels, the great city, the residence of the Emerald Buddha, the impregnable city (unlike Ayutthaya) of God Indra, the grand capital of the world endowed with nine precious gems, the happy city, abounding in an enormous Royal Palace that resembles the heavenly abode where reigns the reincarnated god, a city given by Indra and built by Vishnukarn’.
2. UNOPENED GIFTS
If you give a gift when visiting a Thai home, don’t be offended if they don’t open it until you leave. It’s called manners.

5. HOLY HEAD
The head is considered a sacred part of the body, so don’t touch a Thai’s head.
6. KEEPING IT CLEAN

7. SIAMESE TWINS

8. KEEP YOUR SHIRT ON
While Thailand might be known for it’s relaxed beach vibe, going shirtless is actually an offense.
